Yesterday, the Los Angeles Angels and Colorado Rockies made a big trade. The Los Angeles Angels acquired 1B C.J. Cron and OF Randal Grichuck. In exchange, the Angels sent minor leaguers LHP Mason Albright and RHP Jake Madden.
This is a big trade for the Angels, as they announced earlier this week they're going to keep Shohei Ohtani to make a push for October. This trade gives the Angels two bats in their lineup.
Both C.J. Cron and Randal Grichuck are having solid years. For the Angels new 1B, C.J. Cron, in 56 games, Cron is slashing .260/.304/.476, with 11 HR's, 32 RBI's, and a .780 OPS. It's also worth to note, C.J. Cron played for the Angels earlier in his career.
Secondly, for the Angels new OF, Randal Grichuck he's having a very nice season. In 64 games, Grichuck is slashing .308/.365/.496, 8 HR's, 27 RBI's, and a .861 OPS. Randal Grichuck is certainly a proven player, and he adds huge OF depth to the Angels.
With the Angels currently sitting at a solid 55-51 record, 5 games out of 1st place in the AL West, and just 4 games out of the wild card spot, this trade boosts the Angels in so many ways. It's going to be fun to watch the Angels try to finally make the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
