The Angels made the risky decision of keeping their superstar, Shohei Ohtani, in hopes they will be in the mix once October comes. Their playoff chances increased late last night when they traded for reinforcements.
Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Angels acquired right-hander Lucas Giolito and right-handed reliever Reynaldo Lopez from the Chicago White Sox for two of their top prospects, catcher Edgar Quero and left-hander Ky Bush.
As time goes on, the Angels will also have their other superstar on his way back, Mike Trout. The Angels have seen the postseason just one time with Mike Trout and none since their two generational talents teamed up.
Seeing the Angels be buyers at the deadline is a great sight for baseball. Having the likes of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout in the playoffs is a dream scenario for many baseball fans. The Angels are expected to add more as they push for a spot in October.
