LOS ANGELES, CA: To be sure, Reid Detmers hasn't experienced the 2024 season he had hoped for. Since the Angels optioned the southpaw to Triple-A in June, he has been a pitcher for the Salt Lake Bees.
However, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that he is attracting attention from multiple teams in a trade, and he names Detmers among the many players the Angels have made available before the deadline.
Detmers, 25, made his MLB debut in 2021, since then posting a 4.68 ERA across 70 MLB starts. His luck turned quite quickly in 2022 when he posting a 3.77 ERA, including a no-hitter and an immaculate inning.
In 2024, Detmers had a great start to the season, going 3-0 in his first four appearances with a 1.19 ERA. Regretfully, after that, his season rapidly went south.
He surrendered 41 runs (40 earned) in 40 1/3 innings of work throughout his following eight outings. Over his next eight games, his strikeout percentage decreased from 34.9% during his first four starts to 20.9%.
