Astros 24-year old rookie, Hunter Brown, is quietly having himself an impressive season. I'm his most recent outing, Brown was outstanding.
Against the Athletics, Brown pitched seven innings, allowing just 2 ER, 4 H, all while striking out a career-high 10 batters. Adding to this most recent outing, Brown is pitching to a 3.12 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, while striking out 66. He's 5-1 over 10 starts which compiles to 57.2 innings pitched.
The Astros lost CY-Young award winner Justin Verlander last off-season to the New York Mets. Many believed this Astros staff might skip a step after Verlander departed. Hunter Brown might not be Justing Verlander, but he's been stellar to the delight of Astros fans.
Hunter Brown could make a strong case for AL Rookie of the Year with the type of numbers he's on pace for. At the very least, Brown has solicited himself as a member of this Houston pitching staff and will be for quite some time.
