The Diamondbacks secured their first win of the 2023 NLCS against the Phillies in game 3 by a score of 2-1. A game that was all pitching up until the very end. D-Backs rookie Brandon Pfaadt and Phillies' Ranger Suarez held down the fort as both starters pitched no run ball.
The Diamondbacks storyline last night was Ketel Marte. Marte has been with the Diamondbacks since 2017 and has been the leader of this club ever since. In a must win game for the Diamondbacks, it was only fitting that Marte delivered. Going 3-5 with two doubles and a walk-off is just what Ketel Marte brings to the club. He joins Luis Gonzalez in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series and Tony Womack in Game 5 of the 2001 NLDS as the only Diamondbacks with a walk off in the postseason.
Game 4 from Arizona will feature Arizona's Joe Mantiply and Philadelphia's Christopher Sanchez. Both these clubs have some very meaningful baseball ahead as the Phillies will look to be in the drivers seat as the D-Backs look to even up the series in front of the home crowd.
