Athletics general manager David Frost has announced that star designated hitter Brent Rooker underwent extensor repair surgery on his right elbow/forearm. Rooker was the Athletics best overall hitter this past season.
Although Brent Rooker underwent this surgery, he is still expected to make a full recovery and be ready for Spring Training of 2025. As long as there are no setbacks in Brent Rooker’s recovery the A’s will have their All-Star hitter before the regular season.
It was noted by GM David Frost that Brent Rooker was indeed playing through elbow discomfort this past season. Even though he was dealing with stuff, he still put up very solid numbers for the Athletics.
Brent Rooker played a great amount of games this past season. He showed up everyday and game the Athletics his all. In 145 games, Rooker slashed .293/.365/.562, 39 HR’s, 112 RBI’s, and a .927 OPS. That’s now back-to-back seasons with 30+HR for Rooker.
Over the past few seasons Brent Rooker has solidified himself as a star in the Athletics lineup. He will spend his off-season recovering from his surgery and will prepare to be ready for Spring Training.
