ATLANTA, GA: Jurickson Profar has been suspended by Major League Baseball for 80 games after testing positive for a drug that the league prohibits. The Braves outfielder will not get compensation for the duration of his suspension after testing positive for Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG).

After spending portions of the previous two seasons in San Diego, Profar signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Braves over the summer. He is currently in his first season with the team.

“We were surprised and extremely disappointed to learn that Jurickson Profar tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Prevention and Treatment Program. We fully support the Program and are hopeful that Jurickson will learn from this experience,” stated the Braves.

The Braves outfielder began the 2025 season with three hits in 16 plate appearances and played in the first four games of the season, all of which were losses to the Padres.

He will be prohibited from playing baseball until June 29 and will not be able to play for the Braves in the postseason if they qualify. The MLB Players Association issued a statement in which Profar referred to Monday as the "most difficult" day of his career.
