HOUSTON, TX: The Braves selected the contract of INF David Fletcher, and placed INF Ozzie Albies on the 10-day injured list with a right great toe fracture, per the club.
After being plunked in Monday’s game against the Astros, he stayed in the game and had two ABs. A walk in the 7th and then singled and scored in the 9th.
Albies was in a walking boot, said he thought the pain would go away in the innings after he got hit on the foot by a curveball. The pain was severe and an X-ray last night revealed a fracture.
Albies: "It's a freak injury, but there is nothing I can do about it. Make sure I heal fast and be ready to go when I feel better"
Albies and the rest of the Braves offense has been top-tier this season thus far. Albies has slashed .317/.386/.492 with 2 home runs.
Ozzie’s injury is going to hurt the Braves. His talent on the field has never been in question. On the positive side of things, Albies’ injury is non-surgical. If all goes as planned, he’ll be back in the lineup in no time.
