The St. Louis Cardinals have released veteran shortstop Brandon Crawford. The Cardinals signed Crawford this past off-season. He has been around baseball for a very long time.
Brandon Crawford only spent a total of 29 games with the Cardinals. He wasn’t an everyday player. Crawford signed just a one-year, $2 million deal with the Cardinals in free agency, so they won’t have to eat much money.
This is Brandon Crawford’s 14th season in the MLB. Before this season, Crawford spent every single year with the San Francisco Giants. He became a true Giants legend. It was time for him to find a new home, and he did in St. Louis. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
Brandon Crawford didn’t ever get a consistent amount of playing time with the Cardinals. He was more of a bench piece or a late game substitution. In 71 total at-bats, Crawford slashed .169/.263/.282, with 1 HR, 4 RBI, and a .545 OPS.
The 2024 season has been a crazy one for Brandon Crawford. The good thing for Crawford is he can now find a contending team to see if he can make one final run at a championship. It’s likely that this is Brandon Crawford’s final season in the MLB.
