CHICAGO, IL: Outfielder Mike Tauchman will be out of the Cubs lineup for a few weeks. Chicago put their right fielder, who has a strained left groin, on the 10-day injured list yesterday evening. Triple-A Iowa's Miles Mastrobuoni has been promoted to the active roster.
Tuchman's strain is of the Grade 2 kind, according to manager Craig Counsell, who was cited by the Chicago Beat (reported on X by Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune).
Counsell estimated that it will take the injured about a month to heal completely. That can mean Tuchman's rehab is over by the trade deadline of July 30.
Surprisingly, Tauchman, has become a valuable asset to Chicago. During a career-high 401 plate appearances last season, he hit .252/.363/.377. The lefty Tauchman has made his way to regular playing time in the Wrigley Field outfield. Counsell has kept him at the top of the lineup.
Tauchman, 33, has been trying to find a home his entire career. With his two years in Chicago, his play may have found him that home. For now, the lefty will have to wait to get back into action.
