The 2024 home run derby has come and gone. For the first time in team history, a Los Angeles Dodgers has won a home run derby. Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez won it yesterday after he defeated Bobby Witt Jr. in the final round.

For the first round it was no bracket style. Everyone had 40 pitches and three minutes. The top four were taken for the next round. Teoscar Hernandez, Alec Bohm, Bobby Witt Jr., and Jose Ramirez were the top four who advanced to the second round.

For the second round, it was different. This time it was a bracket style. You still had 40 pitches and three minutes. The one seed went up against the four seed. The second seed went up against the third seed. That means Alec Bohm faced Teoscar Hernandez, and Bobby Witt Jr. faced Jose Ramirez.

For the final round it’s pretty simple. The final two faced each other. That means Teoscar Hernandez went against Bobby Witt Jr. for all the marbles. It was an instant classic. Hernandez hit 14 home runs and Bobby Witt Jr. hit 13.

Here is each players final home run total for the entire derby:

Bobby Witt Jr. - 50

Teoscar Hernandez - 49

Alec Bohm - 36

Jose Ramirez - 33

Adolis García - 18

Marcell Ozuna - 16

Pete Alonso - 12

Gunnar Henderson - 11

Yet another home run derby is in the books. It was another fun one. There were some surprises, but that’s what is great about this event, anything can happen. There will be more fun as the All-Star game will happen tonight at 8 pm ET.
