The San Francisco Giants are heading into 2024 with a new manager at the helm, Bob Melvin. In continuation to their new coaching moves, a familiar face will be another addition. Pat Burrell, a 12-year veteran, was named as the teams new hitting coach for the 2024 season.

Pat Burrell spent 12 years in the big leagues, posting a 18.9 career WAR in eight seasons with Philadelphia, two with Tampa Bay, and two with San Francisco. In his career, Burrell slashed .253/.361/.472 with 292 home runs. Burrell finished 4th in Rookie of the Year voting and 14th, 7th in Most Valuable Player voting.

Burrell never wowed with batting average, but was consistent and had some pop with the bat. His 37 home runs in 2002 were the most in a season and added to his push for MVP. Burrell is familiar with San Francisco and will undoubtedly be a positive figure for this young club heading into next season.
