TEMPE, AZ: The New York Mets have been one of the most active teams this offseason. With recent reports, they seem to be eager to add even more to their lineup. The Mets have shown interest in two free agent sluggers, being J.D. Davis and J.D. Martinez.
Martinez comes at no surprise, as he’s been linked to the Mets earlier this offseason with reports that the interest is mutual. Martinez would undoubtedly make this lineup even more powerful. Martinez can be penciled in for 20-30 home runs a year and slashed .271/.321/.572 with 33 home runs in 2023.
Martinez would be an excellent addition to this Mets lineup. Pairing him with Pete Alonso would be a huge upgrade in the power department. As of now, Martinez has been on the Mets and Angels radars as a possible addition.
Heading over to the other J.D., J.D. Davis is no stranger to the club that resides in Queens. Davis spent a total of four seasons in New York and slashed a four-year total .278/.364/.451 and provided a lot of positives for the Mets.
Davis was recently released by the Giants, where he spent the last two seasons, and is now looking where his next home will be. After slashing .248/.325/.413 with 18 home runs in 2023, Davis is expected to receive a lot of interest in the free agent market.
For the Mets, both sluggers make sense for this lineup. J.D. Martinez would be a more expensive piece, but provides a ton. Projections show that one of these two free agent sluggers could be calling Queens their next home.
