Mets Interested in Reunion With Veteran Infielder

The Mets and veteran third baseman, Justin Turner, parted ways after the 2013 season. Turner went on to play nine years with the Los Angeles Dodgers and most recently, with the Boston Red Sox. Turner found himself much more successful after leaving Queens. Now, the two might be back together.

It was reported by Mike Puma of the New York Post, that The Mets have been engaged with representatives for Justin Turner. Despite being the ripe baseball age of 39, Turner is still a very solid hitter. Slashing .276/.345/.455 with 23 home runs while posting a 114 wRC+ in 2023 proved that Turner can still swing the wood.

The Mets signed FA Joey Wendle to a one-year deal before the Winter Meetings took place, however, that did not seem to be the solution for another big bat. With youngster Brett Bady manning the hot corner, a signing of Justin Turner would likely see him as a rotating DH with stints at third base.
