Orioles Young Pitcher Lands on 15-Day IL

Photo by The New York Times

The Baltimore Orioles announced multiple roster moves yesterday. The main one is the club placed right-handed pitcher Grayson Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list. He has a right lat/teres discomfort. The move was retroactive to August 4th.

Just a few days ago, Grayson Rodriguez was scratched from his scheduled start. The cameras caught Rodriguez saying, “I don’t feel right.” So everyone knew something was wrong right away.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Grayson Rodriguez has a mild strain, and the Orioles are optimistic about the timeline of recovery. An exact timeline is still to be determined.

This is Grayson Rodriguez’s second season as a major leaguer. It’s been a pretty good year for Rodriguez in his second year. In 20 starts, Rodriguez has a 13-4 record, 116.2 IP, 3.86 ERA, 130 SO, and a 1.24 WHIP.

Grayson Rodriguez has been a workhorse this season. He’s also been a winner for the Orioles. Almost every start for Rodriguez, he has given his team a chance to win the ballgame.

The Orioles will certainly miss Grayson Rodriguez’s consistency. The hope is that Rodriguez can have a quick recovery and can be back soon.
