SAN DIEGO, CA: The San Diego Padres pulled off a blockbuster move right before the start of the 2024 MLB season, when they traded for RHP Dylan Cease. Many wondered which Cease San Diego would get. Well, he’s quite loudly shutting down any negatives about him.

Cease has gotten off to a 2024 season that has seen him pitch to a 2.55 ERA across 42.1 innings pitched. Cease has also compiled a 4-2 record with 48 strikeouts.

Cease’s recent outing led him into Wrigley where he pitched seven innings, allowed just one hit, zero earned runs, and a whopping 12 strikeouts against the Cubs lineup. Something that Cease has been building all season long.

The 28-year old is under club control through 2025, meaning Cease has a for sure home for next season. While the Padres currently sit in second place in the NL West, Cease has the ability to be a game one starter come October. With the season he’s having, all signs point to that direction.
