The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a a significant deal. The Phillies will receive All-Star closer Carlos Estevez. The Angels will receive top pitching prospects George Klassen and Samuel Aldegheri. Per, Jeff Passan of ESPN. The best pitching staff in the National League has gotten even better with this addition.

There’s no question that what the Phillies had to send to Los Angeles was pretty significant. Although, it’s pretty clear that the Phillies are going for it. They need to bite the bullet and do stuff like that sometimes.

George Klassen has been purely dominant in High-A this season. In 14 starts, he has a 1.97 ERA and 89 SO. Samuel Aldegheri has also pitched at a high level. He’s in Double-A. Aldegheri had a 3.23 ERA in 15 games. He struck out 109 batters.

Carlos Estevez has been one of the best relievers in all of baseball this season. The team with the best record in baseball just traded for him. It’s crazy to think the Phillies could pull it off, but they did.

In 34 games this year and 34.0 IP, Estevez has a 2.38 ERA, 32 SO, and a 0.74 WHIP. Those numbers are very rare for a reliever nowadays.

The Phillies needed to address their bullpen and they did just that. They now have a few different guys they can throw in when it’s a tight game. The Phillies will obviously be a contender and this move just proved it even more.
