Phillies All-Star Third Baseman Lands on 10-Day IL

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed third baseman Alec Bohm on the 10-day injured list. He has a left hand strain. To fill Bohm’s spot on the 28-man roster, the club recalled INF Buddy Kennedy from Lehigh Valley (AAA). Per, the Philadelphia Phillies.

This move is retroactive to September 3rd. Alec Bohm left the game that day when he swung the bat which caused him to ultimately land on the injured list. The Phillies will be without their starting third baseman for even longer then expected.

Alec Bohm was a starting All-Star for the first time in his young career this season. He truly deserved it. It’s unfortunate for Alec Bohm and the Phillies, he was putting up great numbers. Now they will just have to hope that he is ready for the playoffs, which he should be.

The Phillies weren’t even expecting Alec Bohm to have a stint on the injured list. Which is kind of a good thing, that tells people that he shouldn’t be on the IL for a long time. The Phillies can’t afford to lose Bohm for an extended period of time.

Alec Bohm has been a hitting machine all season long. Mostly doubles, he is tied for the league lead with 44 doubles. In a total of 131 games this season, Bohm is slashing .290/.343/.462, with 13 HR, 89 RBI, and a .805 OPS.

This is the first time this season that Alec Bohm will spend time on the IL. Hopefully it’s not for a long time and it can just be a quick stint. That’s what is expected. Bohm has been a huge help towards the Phillies success this season.
