Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced yesterday that the Phillies are in agreement on a 4-year contract extension with LHP Christopher Sanchez. It includes options. The deal buys out his arbitration years and gives them additional years of control.
Cristopher Sanchez was originally signed by the Rays out of the Dominican Republic in 2013. Back in 2019, the Phillies acquired him in a trade with the Rays for infielder Curtis Mead.
Many people in the baseball world has overlooked Cristopher Sanchez. He has proven everyone including the Phillies organization how good of a pitcher he truly is. The Phillies awarded him with a contract extension and giving him a home for many years.
Christopher Sanchez’s stats in 2024 as of 6/23:
15 starts | 5-3 record | 84.1 IP | 2.67 ERA | 70 SO | 1.28 WHIP
The Phillies know how to get players to want to play in Philadelphia. The latest one is now Christopher Sanchez. It’s been incredible to watch Sanchez continue to develop as a great pitcher and will continue that in Philadelphia for the next few years.
