Phillies Officially Clinch a Playoff Spot

After yesterday’s win over the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Phillies are officially back in the playoffs for the third year in a row. The Phillies locked up a spot after they had a comfortable 12-2 win yesterday.

After their long drought of not making the playoffs and terrible seasons, the Phillies are on a playoff streak. It’s now been three years in a row for the Phillies in the playoffs. The years list as 2022, 2023, and now 2024.

The next Phillies win or Mets loss will lock up the division for the Phillies. Luckily for the Phillies, they play the Mets for the next two games. It’s highly likely that the Phillies win the National League East on the Mets home field.

The last time that the Phillies were NL East division winners was 2011. They had won five straight division titles and haven’t won one since. The Phillies have had a great season all year long, they haven’t had many cold streaks.

The Phillies will look to make yet another deep run in the playoffs. In 2022 they made it all the way to the World Series and fell short to the Astros. Last year, the Phillies lost to the Diamondbacks in the NLCS in 7 games. This could be the year that the Phillies finally get over the hump and win a championship.
