The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed outfielder Michael A. Taylor on outright waivers. Per, Robert Murray of FanSided. Taylor joined the Pirates this past off-season on a one-year, $4 million contract.

Michael A. Taylor is a Gold Glove outfielder. He has won that award one time. He is also a World Series champion with the Washington Nationals back in 2019. Taylor is a proven outfielder that has a ton of experience in the major leagues.

The Pirates never actually designated Michael A. Taylor for assignment. Therefore, he is still on the 26 and 40 man roster for the Pirates. That means Taylor is still eligible to play for the Pirates until he is claimed by another team, then he will obviously join that team.

It’s been an up and down season for Michael A. Taylor in his first season as a member of the Pirates. He’s been giving the Pirates a lot on the defensive side, but unfortunately not so much on the offensive side. In 100 games, Taylor is slashing .196/.257/.284, 4 HR, 20 RBI, 12 SB, and a .541 OPS.

Michael A. Taylor will have the chance to join another team if he is claimed. The season is coming down to it’s last few weeks of the year. There’s a good chance Michael A. Taylor is claimed due to contending teams looking for depth.
