There were multiple reports that came out yesterday that the Pittsburgh Pirates are showing a lot of interest in Angels outfielder Taylor Ward. It was noted that the deal isn’t quite done yet, but the Pirates are trying to get it over the finish line.
Taylor Ward is expected to get a lot of interest from teams looking for outfield help. He is under team control for the next two years. Ward is also playing on a team who isn’t really looking to be a playoff team as he is on the Angels.
The Angels haven’t had many bright spots this season, but Taylor Ward is certainly one. He has been one of their most consistent hitters all season long. In 89 games this season, Ward is slashing .237/.322/.415, with 14 HR, 44 RBI, and a .740 OPS.
Many people in the baseball world would love to see the Pirates go out and make a move like this. Taylor Ward would be a great pickup for a team like the Pirates who are trying to make the playoffs for the first time in a few years.
