The Rangers announced yesterday that they placed rookie INF Josh Jung on the 10-day IL with a left thumb fracture. Jung will be receiving further testing to assess just how severe the injury is.
Jung is having himself a phenomenal rookie campaign, slashing .274/.323/.489 with 22 home runs and 67 RBI.
The Rangers have seemingly been riddled with injuries this season. Although they have spent most of the season atop of the AL West, Jung's injury will most definitely come at a price. Josh Smith and Ezequiel Durán will likely fill in for Jung until his return.
