ARLINGTON, TX: Due to a foot injury, Rangers right-hander Jon Gray is out for the entire season.Manager Bruce Bochy told the news about X to a number of people, including Dallas Morning News reporter Evan Grant.
Although Gray is not currently listed as injured, he most likely will be in the near future. Additionally, righty Tyler Mahle is "pretty much shut down," according Bochy, as reported by MLB.com's Kennedi Landry on X.
When Gray's foot started to trouble him is unclear, but in his last two starts, he coughed up 11 runs in 6.2 innings. Due to groin and foot issues, the seasoned right-hander will only pitch 17.1 innings in the second half. Although Jose Urena is now expected to start for the Rangers on Thursday against the Angels, Gray was originally scheduled to start.
Gray has spent the last 10 years in the bigs, spending seven seasons in Colorado before signing a 4-year, $56 million deal with the Rangers. Gray and the Rangers will now focus their sights on getting the veteran back for the final year of his contract.
