Rays Receive Huge Hit As October Approaches

The Tampa Bay Rays pitching staff has once again taken a huge blow. This time, it comes in the form of ace Shane McClanahan. McClanahan was placed on the 15-day IL after his start against the Yankees with soreness in his forearm.

Yesterday, the Rays manager, Kevin Cash, stated that it is "highly unlikely" that Shane McClanahan would pitch again in 2023. Not only has McClanahan been a huge asset to this Rays team, the rest of the staff has been riddled by injuries.

McClanahan will likely finish the 2023 season with a 11-2 record along with his 3.29 ERA and his 121 strikeouts. The Rays have already lost Jeffrey Springs and Drew Rasmussen after they needed Tommy John surgery. The Rays will now look to Tyler Glasnow and co. to take over the reigns and lead their staff into October.
