CINCINNATI, OH: According to a report by Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Reds are planning to hire Terry Francona as their next manager. Feinsand says an announcement might come as soon as tomorrow, but the club has not officially confirmed the story.
Francona, 65, is just one year removed from his retirement and will now go manage a club that’s loaded with young talent.
With the Phillies (1997–2000), Red Sox (2004–2011), and Guardians (2013–2023), he had a 1,950–1,672 record. He guided the Red Sox to World Series wins in 2004 and 2007. Eleven days after the Reds cut ties with David Bell, Francona was hired. Francona had a 10-year playing career, and in 1987 he was a member of the Reds.
The Reds now have their captain of their ship in Francona and there is not many candidates who are more fitting then the veteran manager. Francona’s track record is there and he’ll come in to a situation that’s best for both parties.
