The Los Angeles Dodgers recently signed two-time American League Most Valuable Player, Shohei Ohtani. They signed him to record breaking deal for all of sports. It's a ten-year, $700 million contract. The details of the contract were just released.
Shohei Ohtani's $700 million contract calls for him to be paid only $2 million a year for the next 10 seasons, with $680 million deferred until the end of the deal, sources confirm to ESPN.
The CBT hit on the contract is going to be around $46 million, a huge discount for L.A. Per, multiple sources.
As a Dodger, Shohei Ohtani will make $20M from 2024 to 2033 and $680M from 2034 to 2043. He is deferring more than 97% of his historic contract, made easier by the fact he makes close to $50M annually in off-the-field revenue.
