Tampa Bay Rays Star Pitcher Hits The IL Once Again

Photo via Fantasy Alarm

The Tampa Bay Rays announced yesterday, that their ace, Shane McClanahan was place on the 15 day-IL. McClanahan will undergo imaging and get additional options on his left forearm tightness. This is a huge hit to the second place Tampa Bay Rays.

This is McClanahan's second stint on the IL, the other time was near the all-star break. Shane McClanahan was supposed to be an AL All-Star pitcher but was replaced by Gerrit Cole as McClanahan was on the IL.

Shane McClanahan is having a very productive season with the stacked Rays. In 21 starts for McClanhan, he's pitched 115.0 IP, 11-2 record 3.29 ERA, 121 SO, and a 1.18 WHIP. Shane McClanahan is just 26-years-old, and he's already solidified himself as the Rays ace, and it sucks to see when he's injured.

With the Tampa Bay Rays just two games behind the Orioles for first place in the AL East, this is awful news for them as they certainly have the roster to win the AL East. They're definitely going to need their other pitching staff to hold it together, as this is a huge hit to their pitching staff.
