The St. Louis Cardinals has had probably the most disappointing season so far in 2023. The word to describe them is simply "terrible". They currently sit in fifth place in the NL Central, with a record of 38-52, and 11.5 games out of first place. They're all but done in 2023.
Cardinals president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak had an interview yesterday. He said " Right now, I can tell you we're going to trade people. I just don't know if it's going to be household names or more of guys who are just not likely to be here next year."
It's unknown the talent they could trade. They could potentially look to trade superstars like, Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado. Or they could look to trade pitching, like Jordan Montgomery and Jack Flaherty. They could also look to trade other guys like, Tyler O'Neill, Tommy Edman, or Lars Nootbar.
Now that everyone knows that the Cardinals are going to be sellers at the deadline, it's going to be interesting who is going to be traded. A lot of teams are going to be calling the Cardinals at the deadline, they truly do have good players that will be traded. If your team is looking to make a deep run for October, they're definitely going to call the Cardinals to see who they can get.
