Yesterday, the Philadelphia Phillies had to place multiple stars on the 10-day IL. First baseman Bryce Harper had a left hamstring strain, and designated hitter Kyle Schwarber had a left groin strain. Both players left the Phillies game early on Thursday.
To replace their spots on the Phillies MLB roster, infielder Kody Clemens was returned from his rehab assignment, and outfielder Johan Rojas was recalled from Triple-A. Both Clemens and Rojas have experience in the MLB.
Bryce Harper’s 2024 stats:
76 games | .303/.399/.582 | 20 HR | 58 RBI | .981 OPS
Kyle Schwarber’s 2024 stats:
79 games | .250/.373/.447 | 17 HR | 49 RBI | .820 OPS
Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson did give a positive update on both Harper and Schwarber. He stated that the two have a real good shot at being back in the Phillies lineup before the All-Star break. That would be huge for the Phillies who own the best record in baseball.
All season long the Phillies have been one of the best teams in all of baseball. It’s going to be hard to keep up the pace that they’re currently on now that Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber are out.
