Yankees Officially Hire New Hitting Coach For 2024

After the Yankees abysmal offensive performance in 2023, they switched things up mid-season, by firing former hitting coach Dylan Lawson, and replacing him with Sean Casey. After the season, the Yankees had intrest in bringing Casey back, but he ultimately decided not to accept the job. They now are bringing back to the club James Rowson.

Rowson made a name for himself in the Yankees minor league system, serving as the hitting coach for Class A Tampa in 2006 and 2007. He was then the Yankees minor league hitting coordinator from 2008-2011 and 2014-2016. He then made his way to Minnesota, where he served as the team's hitting coach from 2017-2019. Then just two seasons ago, finished his two year tenure as hitting coach in Miami.

Rowson is extremely respected within the Yankees organization and had some great references in Aaron Judge. Judge spent three years with Rowson as he made his way up the Yankees farm system. Rowson is taking over an offense that finished 29th in baseball, just behind the Oakland Athletics. New York's team .227 batting average was just like their 2023 season, terrible. Rowson very well has a big job of turning this offense around.
